This is the opening mission statement from creative director Cory Barlog at the start of theRaising Kratos documentary.
Before the reboot came along, I didn’t really know anything about the series.
It’s not easy to revive a series, let alone take it in an entirely new direction.
And as a protagonist, Kratos had established himself as a violent anti-hero.
So taking that character and putting him into the role of a father again was undoubtedly inherently tricky.
Now we’re trying to make him a character you care about".
That seems like such a simple idea, but it’s anything but.
There’s always room to grow and understand each other on a deeper human level.
But I think Kratos goes on to prove both her and himself wrong.
